Hi, my name is Melien Lavoie and I am the 'Plug in Muse'. |
|
Where I Come From |
I am the daughter of a math and first generation computer teacher. I often feel that I have followed in my father's footsteps in many ways. I have over 25 years of computer experience with an in-depth understanding of internet operations. I am comfortable with different online platforms, am technically minded and great at problem solving and learning new programs. Founding an international marketing company focusing on digital search is a natural progression from my research and testing. Doing it with my sister, by combining our heritage and cranial power, is the next step to living out our full purpose and having an impact on rewriting marketing as we know it.

I have an entrepreneurial spirit |
I love working with like-minded free thinkers. As a philanthropist, I have a deep rooted obligation to 'give back' and volunteer often and perhaps too eagerly! My user-friendly mindset comes in handy when structuring information to be informative yet clear. Being the Queen of Checklists helps!
As a child I never understood a word my dad tried to teach me, especially during my binary lessons at age 8. In the past I have often received the same blank stares when trying to explain SEO. As an intellectual, I have made it my life's mission to revolutionize Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and to make it understandable. I am constantly improving my own processes while working with clients to identify problem areas. Making SEO and marketing easy is what I live for! |
PluginMuse Consulting |
My ideal client is a Small Business Owner who is highly computer illiterate, high maintenance and desperate to learn how to navigate a digital world themselves. These are the perfect 'guinea pigs' helping me to learn the most from.
I also enjoy working with non-profits whose missions are related to creating jobs and infrastructures that support entrepreneurs. As a South African I'm also drawn to organizations trying to make life better in third world countries. |
Current Projects
PluginMatterPluginMatter is a partnership I created with my sister, Corlia Van Tonder. It has taken us well over 90 months to carefully plan out all the different parts of the company, paired with my research and process. Currently most operational tasks are performed in South Africa by Corlia, who will be opening the USA office as soon as her L1A visa comes through.
|
PluginSmallOur website department of PluginMatter is called PluginSmall. We specialize in Weebly websites and while Corlia is building them I am doing research and testing new and better ways to make them work.
|
Drive That MatterOur marketing department of PluginMatter is called Drive That Matter. Currently I am spending most of my time working on client case studies based on identified issues that are dealt with in a cascading plan over a set period of time, depending on the clients budget. The fine-tuning and implementation of these plans within the set time limit is crucial to PluginMatter's KPI and requires a lot of testing.
|
Plug InstituteI do not get a lot of time to focus on Plug Institute. I am looking forward to PluginMatter getting fully functional so that I can work more on my digital sales curriculum and start training interns digitally to help me with managing various non-profits digital marketing plans.

My Future Calling |
It is obvious that my ministry is with the business owner and entrepreneur. My dream has always been to work in Africa. I have a tremendous amount of empathy towards the struggling business owners trying desperately to support their families.
Having the ability to make a living should be a basic right, but often feels like a constant struggle that crushes your soul. I work with entrepreneurs who are often perplexed but refuse to be in despair. They are persecuted and hard pressed from all sides, but are never forsaken or their spirits destroyed. Creating a profitable company with PluginMatter is a pertinent part of my mission to be able to implement Work for Africa. This is the final destiny of all my efforts and of utter importance to the development of mankind. I believe that understanding online ratings can give the smallest of business owners the tools and HOPE they need to succeed. Work for Africa is still in development but an idea towards a non-profit doing digital workshops in third world countries, teaching entrepreneurs how to manage and market their businesses using only their phones. |
